Marcelino ready for Racing

Real Racing Club Santander have appointed former RC Recreativo de Huelva coach Marcelino as their new coach for the coming campaign.

The 41-year-old replaces Miguel Ángel Portugal who stood down last week despite guiding the club to a tenth place in the 2006/07 season. Marcelino had spent two similarly successful seasons at Recreativo, first leading them to promotion and then to an eighth-placed finish, but had announced he would leave last month. Meanwhile, Recreativo may be without a coach but they have found their third new recruit for the new season with the arrival of the 26-year-old midfielder Javier Camuñas on a three-year contract from Xerez CF.
