The 33-year-old was Austria's top scorer in 2006/07 with 22 goals in 29 Bundesliga games and was voted Player of the Season. Zickler earned twelve caps for Germany, scoring twice, in the course of a 12-year stint at FC Bayern München, who he represented from 1993 until 2005. During that period he won seven Bundesliga titles, the 2001 UEFA Champions League and the 2001 European/South American Cup. The forward joined Giovanni Trapattoni's side in the summer of 2005. As Austrian champions, Salzburg will start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round.
