FC Basel 1893 have extended goalkeeper Yann Sommer's contract by four years until summer 2011 and loaned him to Liechtenstein's FC Vaduz.
Familiar coach
A regular in Switzerland’s Under-19 team, Sommer had been playing for Basel’s youth side but will get senior experience with Vaduz, who play their league football in the Swiss second tier. Sommer will be reunited with former Basel youth coach Heinz Hermann at Vaduz, who will enter in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup as Liechtenstein Cup winners. Runners-up in Switzerland, Basel will begin their campaign in the same competition in the second qualifying round.
