France striker David Trezeguet has made an about-turn and extended his contract with Juventus by three years until 2011. "I have made a decisive choice for my career and my life," said the 29-year-old.
Recod scorer
Trezeguet had announced he was leaving following a loss to Spezia Calcio 1906 on the final day of the 2006/07 campaign, a match in which he scored his 15th league goal of the season for the Serie B champions. However, he is now targeting a decade of service for the Bianconeri after joining from AS Monaco FC in 2000. "In the last 15 days I've seen how much the club wanted me to stay and I decided to forget about the problems we had in the past and only think about the future," he said. Trezeguet has scored 140 goals for the Turin club, more than any other foreign player.
Rebuilding
Juve have been quickly rebuilding for Serie A under new coach Claudio Ranieri. Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon extended his contract and a number of players, including Portugal midfielder Tiago from Olympique Lyonnais and €11.3m Udinese Calcio striker Vincenzo Iaquinta, have arrived at the club.
