Reported fee
The defender passed a medical in Munich on Thursday and has now penned a four-year contract with Bayern, binding him to the Bavarian giants until 2011. A reported fee of €9m has been paid for the left-back, who has earned 14 caps for Germany. Jansen played 23 Bundesliga games for Mönchengladbach this season, and made 73 league appearances overall, scoring five times.

Hitzfeld delight
Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was pleased with his new acquisition, saying: "I am very happy about this reinforcement." Jansen is Bayern's fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Hamit Altıntop, Jan Schlaudraff and Ernesto Sosa. Having finished fourth in the Bundesliga this term, Bayern will enter the 2007/08 UEFA Cup.
