Olympique Lyonnais captain and central defender Claudio Caçapa has announced that he will leave the club in the summer.
Disappointing season
The 31-year-old has turned down an offer of an extended contract with the Ligue 1 leaders, with whom he has won five league titles in the last five years. The Brazilian, who has has made just four appearances in the league this season for Gérard Houllier's side, said: "It's true that I have been disappointed because I haven't been playing very often. It's a complicated situation and I want to find something else. I need a new motivation similar to what I had when I first joined Lyon."
Joined in 2000
Having joined the club from Clube Atlético Mineiro in 2000, Caçapa helped Lyon win the French League Cup in 2000/01 before they embarked upon their run of league titles the following season. He is one of only three Lyon players to have played a part in winning all six of their trophies this decade along with Grégory Coupet and Sidney Govou.
