Article body
Juliano Belletti has added another year to his contract with FC Barcelona, binding the Brazil defender to the Spanish champions until the summer of 2009.
Performances count
The 30-year-old's existing deal was due to expire next year but he was pleased to have agreed another 12 months, saying: "I'm very happy to stay at the best club in the world. I would love to stay here as long as I can but I know that depends on my performances. My duty is to prove to the coach that he can count on me whenever he needs me."
Barça honours
Belletti, who joined Barcelona in summer 2004 after two seasons at Villarreal CF, started his career at Cruzeiro EC and moved on to São Paulo FC and Club Atlético Mineiro before heading for Spain, where he has won two league titles. The full-back also scored the winning goal as Barça defeated Arsenal FC in last year's UEFA Champions League final.
