Real Racing Club Santander have completed the signing of giant Serbian international striker Nikola Žigić from UEFA Cup hopefuls FK Crvena Zvezda for an undisclosed fee.

Giant striker
The 25-year-old, who stands at 2.02m, has accepted a four-year contract with the Spanish team after Racing failed in their bid for another forward, Brazilian Rafael Sobis, last week. Žigić will join his new club next week as he is on international duty with Serbia, who play their first competitive games since splitting from Montenegro in the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Poland.

Impressive record
Žigić scored 44 goals in 76 appearances for Crvena Zvezda and won league and cup doubles in 2004 and 2006. Footballer of the Year in 2003 and 2005, he registered four goals in 13 matches for the Serbo-Montenegrin national side, including one against Ivory Coast at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, Racing have loaned 24-year-old defender Ayoze Díaz to second division Real Murcia CF for the season.
