Article body
FC Girondins de Bordeaux maintained their 100 per cent start to the French season with a 1-0 win at FC Lorient but champions Olympique Lyonnais were held to a 1-1 home draw by Toulouse FC, leaving AS Nancy-Lorraine with a share of top spot after two matches.
Lyon levelled
Toulouse thought they had earned their point at the Stade Gerland on Saturday night before Florent Malouda scored what appeared to be the winning goal with seven minutes remaining. Yet the visitors, beaten 2-0 at Bordeaux last weekend, kept going and rocked Gérard Houllier's men with a last-minute equaliser by Fabinho.
Happy homecoming
Unlike Lyon, Bordeaux were not denied a second victory, against Lorient. Johan Micoud rolled back the years on his second debut for the club with whom he claimed the French title in 1999, meeting a Julien Faubert cross to score from close range on the stroke of half-time. Promoted Lorient were reduced to nine men when Michael Ciani was red-carded for a tackle on Micoud with 20 minutes left, and midfielder Yazid Mansouri followed him for a similar offence, on Marouane Chamakh, five minutes from time.
Late flurry
Three strikes in the last 13 minutes completed a fine comeback by Nancy, who hold first place ahead of Bordeaux on goals scored. Pablo Correa's side fell behind to visiting CS Sedan-Ardennes when Grégory Pujol broke through on 13 minutes. However, the tie turned on the sending-off of midfielder Christophe Bastien close to half-time. Nancy's advantage told as Benjamin Gavanon equalised in the 77th minute. Gaston Curbelo put the hosts in front two minutes later before Tosin Dosunmu added a late third.
Monaco Misery
Honours even
The remaining matches ended in draws. ES Troyes Aube Champagne shared four goals with Le Mans UC 72; OGC Nice and FC Sochaux-Montbéliard registered 1-1 home stalemates against FC Nantes Atlantique and AJ Auxerre; and it finished 0-0 between Valenciennes FC and Paris Saint-Germain FC at Stade Nungesser.
