Czech international striker Jan Koller has confirmed that he has agreed to join AS Monaco FC on a two-year deal after five seasons at BV Borussia Dortmund.

Czech Republic centre-forward Jan Koller has confirmed that he has agreed to join AS Monaco FC on a two-year contract.

'One of the best'
The 33-year-old, his country's top scorer with 42 goals in 68 internationals, moves to France on a free transfer after his contract with German club BV Borussia Dortmund expired at the season's end. "I have chosen Monaco because they made me a good offer and they are one of the best teams in France," said Koller, who will link up with compatriot Jaroslav Plašil in the principality. "I spoke to 'Jarda' about Monaco and he convinced me to come."

Knee complaint
Koller scored 59 goals in 138 Bundesliga games spanning five seasons with Dortmund. If the highlight was winning the German title in 2001/02, the low point was being limited to just six league starts in 2005/06 due to a serious knee injury. He returned to action in May and will spearhead the Czech Republic's challenge at the FIFA World Cup, where they will compete with the United States, Italy and Ghana in Group E.
