Valencia CF coach Quique Sánchez Flores has signed an extension to his contract which will keep him with the UEFA Champions League contenders until 2008.
Automatic extension
A one-year extension to Sánchez Flores's existing deal was automatically triggered when Valencia achieved qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League with a third-placed finish in the Primera División, but the club took the opportunity to extend the coach's contract by a further season.
Playing days
The 41-year-old Sánchez Flores returned to the club where he spent ten seasons as a player last season from Getafe CF, following Italian coach Claudio Ranieri's departure from the Mestalla. The Spanish side will start their 2006/07 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
