Mozart hits right note with Spartak

Members

FC Spartak Moskva have made their second big signing of the summer with Brazilian Santos Mozart joining the club from Reggina Calcio for a fee of around €6m.

Four-year deal
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has agreed a four-year contract with the side coached by Aleksandrs Starkovs. He will link up with Spartak's other big recruit, Russian international Vladimir Bystrov, who arrived in Moscow from FC Zenit St. Petersburg.

Bordeaux sojourn
Having started his career in Brazil with Paraná Clube, Mozart first moved to Europe in 1998 but made no senior appearances for French team FC Girondins de Bordeaux before returning home to play for Coritiba FC and CR Flamengo. He headed to Italy and Reggina in 2000.

Italian success
His second European sojourn began well and over five Serie A seasons he featured 137 times for Reggina, scoring nine goals, and eventually winning the captaincy. Juventus FC were among several Italian clubs to express an interest in the player in the spring.
