All change again
Last month, the 36-year-old Cos had agreed to step aside to become a sports consultant at the club, allowing then technical secretary Monfort to take charge of the team. Yet Monfort spent barely a month at the helm of the promoted Spanish side, guiding them to four wins and one draw, before being relieved of his duties a week before the new Primera División season. Director of sport Ramón Planes has also resigned in a show of solidarity for Monfort.
Promotion success
Cos led Alavés to promotion in 2004/05, ending a two-year exile from the top flight for the 2001 UEFA Cup finalists. The Basque outfit are controlled by Ukrainian-born American businessman Dmitry Piterman, who took control in July 2004, and having reappointed Cos will shortly decide Monfort's future at the club.
