Bulgarian UEFA Champions League hopefuls PFC CSKA Sofia have sold Evgeni Yordanov to Russian side FC Amkar Perm for a fee in the region of €200,000. The 27-year-old striker has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Premier-Liga strugglers, joining compatriots Zahari Sirakov and Martin Kushev in the Urals. Yordanov becomes CSKA's second departure in a week following Amiran Mujiri's switch to Greek team Kallithea FC.
Jan Halvor Halvorsen has quit as coach of Swedish side GIF Sundsvall after Sunday's 6-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Halmstads BK left them rooted to the foot of the Allsvenskan. "The loss against Halmstad is one of the worst things I've had to endure on a football field," the 42-year-old Norwegian said. "Between 60 and 70 per cent of the players didn't give their all and it's my job as coach to make sure they do that." Whoever replaces Halvorsen will inherit a team lying seven points from safety.
In Scotland, Livingston FC manager Paul Lambert is taking drastic action after his charges slumped to a third defeat from their opening three Premier League matches. The former Scotland and BV Borussia Dortmund midfielder is coming out of retirement. "I've registered and we'll see how I feel," the 36-year-old said.
The Luxembourg national team will play a friendly against German second division outfit TSV Alemannia Aachen on 24 August. The game, taking place in the German city of Eschweiler, will give Luxembourg much-needed match practice ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier in Portugal on 3 September.
