More severe
It was initially thought the 21-year-old would be out for around six months after damaging the ligaments in his left knee in a collision with FC Rubin Kazan goalkeeper Pavel Kharchik during a Premier-Liga game.
Counselling needed
The player underwent surgery in Germany this month, but Russia team doctor Zurab Ordzhonikidze says the prognosis is not good. "Sychev has sustained a very serious injury and will not be able to play for almost a year," he said, adding that the forward would need counselling to deal with the long lay-off.
