Toni taking Fiorentina forward

ACF Fiorentina have signed Italian international striker Luca Toni from US Città di Palermo in a €10m transfer.

Impressive seasons
The 28-year-old arrives in Tuscany on a four-year contract following two impressive seasons with Palermo, during which he scored 51 league goals to help them first to promotion from Serie B, then to sixth place in Serie A and a first UEFA Cup qualification.

Prandelli 'happy'
Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli said: "I am really happy about Toni's signing because he was our main target." The forward, who made his international bow last August against Iceland, has also played for hometown club Modena FC, Empoli FC, US Fiorenzuola 1922, AS Lodigiani, Treviso FC, Vicenza Calcio - for whom he made his Serie A debut in October 2000 - and Brescia Calcio.
