Lacombe leaves Sochaux post

FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have parted company with coach Guy Lacombe, with the reins passing to Abdel Djaadaoui.

Club statement
"FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have released Guy Lacombe from his role as head coach," the French club stated today. "Abdel Djaadaoui takes charge of the first-team squad and will work alongside the current technical staff."

Trophy triumph
Although he had 12 months remaining on his contract, the 50-year-old Lacombe had spoken of his intention to stand down from the position he assumed at the start of the 2002/03 campaign. Lacombe led Sochaux to European qualification in each of his first two seasons and also helped secure the club's first trophy since 1938 when they lifted the French League Cup in 2004.

Strained relations
However, the team from the east of France finished in tenth place in Ligue 1 last term, as Lacombe's relations with club president Jean-Claude Plessis grew more strained. Former Algerian international Djaadaoui played for Sochaux from 1974-84 and joined the backroom staff in 2001.
