Personal reasons
The 42-year-old lawyer, who recently completed his fifth season in charge, explained that he would be leaving for personal reasons. "This is a change with the club's best interests at heart," he said, "I have lived many intense years, giving my utmost to Mallorca but this is not a rash decision, I have spent a long time thinking it over."
Successful era
Alemany departs in the wake of the Spanish club's most successful era. The team, under Luis Aragonés, equalled their best ever Primera División finish in 2000/01, ending third and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. In 2003, the islanders won their second piece of silverware, the Copa del Rey, but only narrowly avoided relegation this season.
