Trio vie for golden boot

Of the six players on two goals, Lise Klaveness, Conny Pohlers and Laura Kalmari will play in the semi-finals.

By Kevin Ashby in Preston

No player is yet to stake an outright claim for the UEFA European Women's Championship golden boot with only three of the six players on two goals still in the competition ahead of this week's semi-finals.

Klaveness chance
Norway's Lise Klaveness and Melania Gabbiadini of Italy moved to the top of the leaderboard today, although it is only the Scandinavian who will get a chance to add to that tally as her side's 5-3 defeat of the Azzurre took them through as Group B runners-up behind Germany.

Pohlers on top
Germany's all-round strength is underlined by the fact seven goalscorers have contributed to their eight-goal haul, with only Conny Pohlers registering twice. Laura Kalmari, whose Finland side play Germany on Wednesday, struck against England and again on Saturday versus Denmark.

Eliminated duo
Marinette Pichon, who missed a couple of openings to put France ahead against Germany today, and Cathrine Paaske Sørensen, who hit Denmark's final goal in the tournament in their 2-1 loss to Finland, are the other players to have scored twice.
