Space in Vaduz for coach

Liechtensteiner Cup winners FC Vaduz have parted company with Martin Andermatt due to poor results.

Swiss results
The club, who won their 34th national cup last week to take their place in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup, have decided to dismiss Andermatt - who is also coach of Liechtenstein's national side - after a run of disappointing results in the Swiss second division.

Stagnating performance
"We do not want in any way to criticise the team," said Vaduz president Hanspeter Negele. "We just wanted to make a point that the team are not motivated and their performance is stagnating. All of the club officials have reached a common decision to part company with Andermatt."

Dual role
The 43-year-old Andermatt, who led Vaduz to a first-ever European win against the Republic of Ireland's Longford Town FC in this season's UEFA Cup first qualifying round, will continue as Liechtenstein coach. "The post in the national team has nothing to do with Vaduz," he said. "I signed the contracts separately. I will continue my coaching role with the same enthusiasm."

Enter Weller
Vaduz's Under-19 coach Hanjo Weller has been named as Andermatt's successor for the remainder of the campaign. Vaduz play in the Swiss football league despite being based in neighbouring Liechtenstein, which does not have a UEFA-affiliated competition.
