Members

SC Braga overcame CF Os Belenenses to move to within a point of leaders SL Benfica who drew with UD Leiria.

Braga win
Brazilian playmaker Jaime and João Tomás got the goals for Braga, the season's surprise package, as they strive to win their first league title. Jesualdo Ferreira's side took full advantage of Benfica's slip on Saturday when Pedro Mantorras's stoppage-time header rescued a point.

Crucial goal
Portuguese Under-21 international João Paulo opened the scoring for Leiria on 16 minutes, heading in Fabio Felício's cross. Leiria goalkeeper Costinha kept the visitors in front with a string of excellent saves, before Mantorras finally found a way through, converting Simão Sabrosa's free-kick deep into injury time.

Porto revival
On Sunday, FC Porto won for the second home match in succession, beating Vitória FC 2-1. Setúbal went ahead early on through Meyong, before Hélder Postiga drew Porto level five minutes before half-time. Ricardo Quaresma won the game for Porto with a 59th-minute strike, taking the champions to fourth place, four points behind Benfica.

Sporting test
Porto are level on 51 points with Sporting Clube de Portugal who travel to Moreirense FC on Monday evening. José Peseiro's team are on a high following their dramatic UEFA Cup quarter-final win against Newcastle United FC.

Beira-Mar hope
Brazilian Beto gave SC Beira-Mar three crucial points in their bid to avoid relegation, his solitary 74th-minute effort defeating visitors Boavista FC on Friday night. That result lifted Beira-Mar off the bottom, while also hurting Boavista's title chances - the latter dropping to fifth, seven points off the top.

Guimarães improve
Vitória SC were pushed hard at home by third-bottom GD Estoril-Praia before earning victory through Romeu to move to within a point of Boavista. A. Académica de Coimbra thrashed FC Penafiel 4-1 with two goals from Dário, while CS Marítimo lost at Gil Vicente FC, Carlos Carneiro scoring the only goal. Rio Ave FC drew 0-0 with CD Nacional.

Pacos promoted
FC Paços de Ferreira were promoted to the SuperLiga with five matches to play in the Liga de Honra after defeating Leixões SC. Paços de Ferreira are top with 61 points from 29 games, 17 clear of fourth-placed FC Marco.
