Hertha BSC Berlin's hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League were knocked as they were held to 1-1 Bundesliga draw by 1. FC Kaiserslautern at the Olympiastadion.
Late equaliser
It could have been worse for the home side, who looked to be heading for their second defeat in three matches before Alexander Madlung gained a share of the spoils five minutes from the final whistle. Kaiserslautern had led for much of the second half through Lucien Mettomo's 50th-minute strike.
Dortmund denied
The point sees Hertha move back up to fifth, level with Hamburger SV and two points adrift of VfB Stuttgart. Kaiserslautern, meanwhile, remain ninth a point ahead of BV Borussia Dortmund, who conceded a last-minute Robert Vittek penalty as they were held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man 1. FC Nürnberg.
Four penalties
It was the visitors' third penalty of the match after Marek Mintal had earlier missed one and scored another to cancel out Christian Wörns's opener with less than 15 minutes remaining. With four minutes left Dortmund earned a penalty of their own after Mario Cantaluppi had been dismissed and Tomáš Rosicky duly converted to seemingly put his side on course for the win before Vittek's last-gasp equaliser.
