Servette FC hope to emerge from bankruptcy after the club was bought by a group of Syrian investors.

Servette FC have appealed against their declaration of bankruptcy after being bought by a group of Syrian investors.

Appeal lodged
The Swiss club was wound up eleven days ago with debts totalling €6.42m. However, the 17-time champions delivered an appeal to the Geneva court yesterday along with a bank guarantee, and hope for a decision by Wednesday. The new investors waited for all Servette's former players to waive claims to unpaid wages before filing their appeal.

Sunday fixture?
Should Servette be brought back to existence, they would return to action on Sunday against Grasshopper-Club when the league resumes after its winter break. The Geneva-based side, who are in eighth place in the ten-team top flight, still have 13 players in their squad, but their training pitch has been closed since the bankruptcy announcement.
