Boa Morte commits to Fulham

BV Borussia Dortmund striker Ewerthon will be out of action for up to two months after rupturing ankle ligaments and suffering a hairline fracture to his right fibula. The 23-year-old Brazilian sustained the injury in Dortmund's friendly against FC Spartak Moskva in Antalya, Turkey where the German club are preparing for resumption of the Bundesliga season on 21 January.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have handed professional contracts to two "huge talents" in 17-year-old Gonzalo Castro and 18-year-old Sascha Dum. Castro has impressed coach Klaus Augenthaler at the club's winter training camp in Marbella and has been awarded a contract until 2008, starting this summer. Dum, whose three-year deal has been backdated to begin on 1 January, made his first-team debut in a League Cup game against Werder Bremen in September. "Both have bright futures," said the coach.

FC Zenit St. Peterburg's attacking midfield player Andrei Arshavin has extended his contract, which was due to expire in 18 months, until 1 January 2008. The 23-year-old joined Zenit in 1999 and made his Russian top-flight debut at the age of 19 two years later, subsequently going on to score 19 goals in 121 games for the club.

FC Zvezda-VA-BGU Minsk have appointed Sergei Gomonov as their interim coach following the resignation of Vladimir Kosakovski. The 43-year-old Gomonov, who previously held a similar position at FC Vedrich-97 Rechitsa, was in charge of Zvezda's reserves last season but has no qualms about stepping up. Zvezda narrowly avoided relegation from the Belarussian top flight in 2004 but will hope to be more competitive when the 2005 campaign starts in April.

Paris Saint-Germain FC have been banned from the Parc des Princes for one Ligue 1 game following crowd trouble during the match against FC Metz on 18 December. The match was held up for several minutes due to objects being thrown on the pitch, incidents Ligue de football professionnel disciplinary committee president Jacques Riolacci described as: "unheard of and unmatched intensity." The ban comes into force at midnight on Sunday, meaning PSG's game against FC Istres on 26 January will be played behind closed doors, although the club have been given leave to appeal before Sunday.
