Spurs duo heading south

Members

Southampton FC are preparing for life after James Beattie by signing Jamie Redknapp and Calum Davenport.

Father and son
The move will see Redknapp link up with father Harry, who took charge of the struggling Premiership club last month. The 31-year-old Redknapp said: "I have enjoyed my time at Tottenham but, as the team has developed, there has been a healthy increase in competition for places and I have found myself on the bench more than on the pitch."

Davenport too
Southampton have also signed England Under-21 defender Davenport on loan for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old has yet to make a first-team breakthrough at White Hart Lane after joining from Coventry City FC in August, although he did play ten games in a short loan spell at West Ham United FC.

Beattie departure
It has been a busy day for Southampton, with striker James Beattie making an €8.5m switch to Everton FC. The England striker completed a medical on Tuesday having already agreed a four-and-a-half year contract at Goodison Park.
