Bak ruled out for Lens

Members

RC Lens and Poland defender Jacek Bak will be out for up to two months after sustaining a knee ligament injury.

'Six to eight weeks'
The 31-year-old limped out of Saturday's Ligue 1 home defeat by bottom side FC Istres after only 29 minutes, and scans have since revealed ligament damage. Coach Joël Muller expects to be without the player "for six to eight weeks". Bak is therefore likely to miss as many as nine league games for 14th-placed Lens, in addition to their French Cup tie against local rivals LOSC Lille Métropole on 12 February.

Question mark
The former Olympique Lyonnais man will also sit out Poland's home friendly against Belarus on 9 February, having played in all of his country's 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to date. Whether the Group 6 games against Azerbaijan and Northern Ireland, on 26 and 30 March, come too soon for him remains to be seen.
