Sliema secure double signing

Transfer round-up: Maltese champions Sliema Wanderers FC have signed Ivan Woods and Lubos Pernis.

Maltese champions Sliema Wanderers FC have signed the 28-year-old Malta striker Ivan Woods, on a four-year contract from rivals Pietà Hotspurs FC. He is currently the Premier League's leading scorer with 12 goals. In addition, Slovakian Lubos Pernis has joined Sliema from Belgian side KV Oostende. "I am convinced that these two new signings will give added impetus to our squad in our aim to land the Premier League title for the third year running," said Sliema president Robert Arrigo.

Denmark's second-choice goalkeeper Peter Skov-Jensen has left FC Midtjylland after agreeing a two-and-a-half year contract with Bundesliga side VfL Bochum 1848. The German side will pay a reported €265,000 for the 33-year-old.

Another Bundesliga side, SC Freiburg, have completed the signing of striker Samuel Koejoe from FC Wacker Tirol. The 30-year-old has scored 12 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga this season and coach Volker Finke said: "Samuel has scored plenty of goals in recent years." Freiburg have not disclosed the the transfer fee and duration of Koejoe's contract.

Udinese Calcio have signed Brazilian central defender Gustavo Lorenzetti de Aroujo on loan from Botafogo FC. The Serie A side have an option to sign the 20-year-old, who has dual Brazilian and Italian citizenship, on a permanent basis next summer.

IFK Göteborg have signed Swedish international Stefan Selakovic on a three-year contract. The 28-year-old moves from Dutch side SC Heerenveen, where he was given only limited playing opportunities under coach Gertjan Verbeek. He returns to Sweden having made 90 Eredivisie appearances for Heerenveen, scoring 19 goals.

Olympique de Marseille have completed the signing of 19-year-old Nigerian Under-21 international Taye Taiwo on a three-year-contract. Taiwo's move to Marseille follows the departure of former French international Bixente Lizarazu, and senior director Pape Diouf sees him as "a bet for the future".

Another Ligue 1 side, OGC Nice, have allowed two of their young players to join second division FC Lorient. Anthony Scaramozzino, a French U19 international defender, joins on a permanent contract, while 23-year-old striker Serge Ayeli is on loan until the end of the season.

Málaga CF, who currently lie 18th in Spain's Primera División, have secured midfield player Michel Sánchez on loan until the end of the season. The 29-year-old joins from Real Murcia CF and Málaga have an option to buy him for €2m.

SBV Vitesse have signed goalkeeper Harald Wapenaar to succeed Dragoslav Jevric, who left for BB Ankaraspor last week. The 34-year-old leaves Portsmouth FC, where he was third choice, and has signed a contract until summer 2007 after passing a medical today.

Struggling Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland have signed 25-year-old goalkeeper Jan Budtz from fourth division Avarta on a six-month contract, following the return to Japan of Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi.

Two days after Tal Banin agreed to join Beitar Jerusalem FC, another veteran Israeli midfield player has ended his retirement as Itzik Zohar signed with Hapoel Nazereth FC until the end of the season. The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving FC Ashdod last season.

Another Israeli on the move is Avraham Tikva, who has joined Cypriot team Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, who are coached by fellow countryman Eli Guttman. Tikva, 28, previously played for Swiss sides Grasshopper-Club and BSC Young Boys and left Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC in August.

Portugal's FC Penafiel have signed Hungarian international Vasas Zoltan - the 25-year-old has won six caps - and 26-year-old Frenchman Kelly Berville. Both play on the left-hand side and have agreed contracts until the end of the season.
