Article body
FC Metz have lost promising midfield player Dino Djiba for the rest of the season after he suffered a serious knee injury.
Six months out
Djiba was substituted in the second half of Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by AS Caen and subsequent tests have shown serious cartilage damage. Club doctor Marcel Jacob said the player would need "six months to recover", effectively ruling him out of a return to the side until the 2005/06 season.
Rapid rise
The 18-year-old Senegalese player is a relative newcomer to the club's first team having only made his debut last December. However, he had featured in ten league games this season, including the 1-1 draw against AS Monaco FC in October when he scored his first Ligue 1 goal.
