Article body
Precarious position
The Spanish side have won only one of ten league outings this season, with Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Real Racing Club Santander being the final straw for the club's directors. Numancia, who have just returned to the Primera División after a three-year absence, have collected a mere five points.
Four-month tenure
The 42-year-old Alfaro was brought in to replace Enrique Hernández in July. His previous posts include managerial positions at Real Jaén CF, Coria CF, CF Extremadura and UE Figueres. Sporting director Máximo Hernández has taken over as caretaker coach, with his first game in charge being Wednesday's Copa del Rey match against Córdoba CF.
