Fach moves out of Mönchengladbach

Members

VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have parted company with coach Holger Fach after a poor start to the season.

Bochum defeat
Fach was relieved of his duties along with assistant coach Stefan Mücke in the wake of yesterday's 3-0 defeat at VfL Bochum 1848, which left the club in 15th position. He was originally appointed in September 2003 and steered the side to eleventh place last season.

President explains decision
Mönchengladbach president Rolf Königs said: "We had to look at our current situation. We have only taken nine points from ten games and have also been knocked out of the German Cup. We therefore considered our goals in serious danger of not being achieved."

Caretaker appointed
Horst Köppel, reserve-team coach since the start of the season, has taken caretaker charge, assisted by Michael Oenning and Uwe Kamps.
