AC Ajaccio have removed Dominique Bijotat from the position of coach with the club bottom of Ligue 1.

Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio have sacked coach Dominique Bijotat after a disappointing start to the season.

Pantaloni in charge
Bijotat, who has been provisionally replaced by assistant Olivier Pantaloni, had been in charge since May 2003 and kept the club in the top flight last season, but the Corsican team lie bottom after six games this term.

Chairman's statement
Ajaccio chairman Michel Moretti said: "Dominique Bijotat is no longer the coach of the first team. His successor will be known next week. Reserve team coach Olivier Pantaloni will fill the gap." Moretti added that Bijotat, 43, has not left the club, but did not say what role the former French international midfield player may now take.
