Striking changes at Blackburn

Members

Birmingham City FC have signed Blackburn Rovers FC's Dwight Yorke with Jay Bothroyd replacing the veteran.

'Undisclosed fee'
Yorke, 32, joins Birmingham for a "substantial but undisclosed fee" after scoring 12 Premiership goals in 56 appearances for Blackburn. The former Aston Villa FC forward and UEFA Champions League winner with Manchester United FC has agreed a one-year deal with the option of another 12 months.

'Bring out the best'
Bothroyd, 22, scored five times in 26 matches for Perugia last season, and Blackburn manager Graeme Souness sees the ex-Coventry City FC striker as one for the future. "He's a young player we've been aware of for a while," Souness said. "He has scored goals in Serie A and it's a hard league to score in. We hope to bring out the best in him."

Brugge loans
Blackburn also sent youngsters Jerome Watt, 19, and Paul Weaver, 18, on loan to Belgian club Cercle Brugge KSV before the transfer window closed on Tuesday.
