Point to prove
The 27-year-old striker has signed up until 2008 in a deal reported to be worth €1.5m to the Czech champions. Heinz, who scored in the Czech Republic's 2-1 win against Germany at UEFA EURO 2004™, spent three years with Hamburger SV from 2000-03, including a loan spell with DSC Arminia Bielefeld. However, after registering only five times in 66 league appearances, he moved to Baník and won the Czech title last season.
Scoring form
Indeed, his 19 goals for Baník, and two more at EURO 2004™, convinced Mönchengladbach to move for him. "He proved he can score goals in both the Czech Republic and in Portugal," Mönchengladbach sporting director Christian Hochstätter said. Heinz links up with compatriots Milan Fukal, Ivo Ulich and Václav Sverkos at the Bökelbergstadion.
