Villa's Premiership rivals Blackburn Rovers FC have completed the signing of Norwegian international Morten Gamst Pedersen. The 22-year-old has signed for an undisclosed fee from Tromsø IL. Manager Graeme Souness has been tracking the winger for some time and finally clinched an agreement after two previous offers were rejected. Gamst Pedersen has signed a four-year deal at Ewood Park and the club are hoping to gain international clearance so that he can make his debut against Manchester United FC this weekend.
Benito Floro has added two more names to the RCD Mallorca roster on the eve of the new Primera División season. Midfield player Jorge Lopez has signed a one-year loan from Valencia CF, but Mallorca could make it permanent if they are willing to fork out €3m for the 25-year-old. Club chairman Mateu Alemany said: "Jorge will be a key piece in the puzzle for Mallorca's squad this season." The club have also signed central defender Sergio Ballesteros from Villarreal CF. The 28-year-old has penned a four-year contract at the Son Moix for a fee of almost €1m.
Newly-promoted CD Numancia have sealed the loan of Argentinian striker Aldo Arcángel Osorio from CA Talleres whilst allowing Juan Navarro to leave the club on a free transfer. Osario, 30, spent two seasons in Italy with US Leece before moving back to his homeland to join Talleres in 2002. Navarro has gone to Segunda Division newcomers Pontevedra CF, while Numancia have also announced that Greek defender Kostas Kiassos will remain on trial from Iraklis FC until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in the Segunda División, RC Celta de Vigo have signed Argentinian striker Facundo Sava from English Premiership side Fulham FC. The 30-year-old has joined Celta on loan until the end of the season after falling out of favour at Craven Cottage.
In Italy, newly promoted Serie A side Atalanta BC have secured Croatian striker Igor Budan on an additional one-season loan from US Città Di Palermo. Atalanta will have the option to buy 50 per cent of the 24-year-old striker's licence next summer. Budan scored eleven goals in 23 Serie B games last season.
French side AC Ajaccio have signed unattached Serbian full-back Nenad Dzodic on a one-year contract. The 27-year-old former Montpellier HSC player had been without a team since departing the club following their relegation at the end of last season. The Corsicans are currently at the foot of the Ligue 1 table after losing their opening three games.
Finally, Dundee United FC have signed defensive midfield player Grant Brebner on a three-year deal from Scottish Premier League rivals Hibernian FC. The 26-year-old only signed a renewed deal with the Easter Road side in May but the arrival of new manager Tony Mowbray has affected his departure. Brebner, who started his career with Manchester United, could make his bow for Dundee United in Saturday's home game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC.
