Free transfer
Newly promoted FC Messina have signed Eleftheropoulos on a free transfer, after the 27-year-old terminated his contract with Olympiacos in May. The Greek international, who has signed a two-year contract with the Sicilian side, won seven league titles at Olympiacos but lost his place to Katergiannakis last season and missed out on selection for UEFA EURO 2004™.
Katergiannakis to Cagliari
Katergiannakis himself today signed for Cagliari Calcio, another side preparing for their return to Serie A. The 30-year-old, a non-playing member of Greece's victorious squad in Portugal, has signed a two-year contract. Katergiannakis began his professional career with Aris Thessaloniki FC in 1994 and spent eight years there before joining Olympiacos in 2002. He made 17 appearances as they won the championship in his first season at the club.
Back to Albacete
Another goalkeeper on the move is Raúl Valbuena, who has returned to Albacete Balompié on a year's loan from Real Zaragoza. The 29-year-old spent two seasons at Albacete before leaving to join Zaragoza in 2002. Elsewhere in Spain, Sevilla FC midfield player Francisco Gallardo has joined Getafe CF on loan for their first season in the Primera División
Pérez deal
Levante UD, also newly promoted to the Primera División have signed left-sided midfield player Nacho Pérez from Málaga CF's B team. The 24-year-old agreed a three-year deal with the Primera División newcomers although Málaga have retained the right to recall the player during the next two seasons.
Racing strengthen
José Fernando Marqués and Walid Regragui, meanwhile, have joined Real Racing Club de Santander. The 19-year-old Marqués, a Spanish youth international defender, has signed a five-year deal. Meanwhile, Morocco midfield player Regragui, 28, arrives on a three-year contract from Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio.
West Brom sign keeper
In England, West Bromwich Albion FC have completed the capture of Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak from Hertha BSC Berlin. The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal at The Hawthorns after his contract with Hertha expired. Finally, Charlton Athletic FC left-back Chris Powell has confirmed he will stay with the club for another year after signing a new 12-month contract.
