Article body
The Czech Republic and Slovakia led the way into the second round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup on Sunday as two sides from each nation passed the first hurdle.
Verbír double
FK Teplice were forced to come from behind to see off Hungarian side MFC Sopron. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Teplice fell further behind to Istvan Sira's tenth-minute strike, but two goals from Pavel Verbír either side of a Mladen Lambulic own goal sealed a 3-1 victory that took the Czech side through 3-2 on aggregate. Teplice are joined in the second round by Czech first division rivals FK Zlín, who beat Finland's Myllykosken Pallo-47 3-2 to advance 4-3 overall.
Slovakian success
There was also success for Slovakia as both FC Spartak Trnava and FK ZTS Dubnica reached the second round. Spartak advanced on away goals at the expense of Hungary's Debreceni VSC thanks to Miroslav Kriss' 42nd-minute strike in a 4-1 defeat at the Oláh Gábor stadium in Debrecen. Kriss had also scored one of Spartak's three first-leg goals as the two teams drew 4-4 over the two matches. Two goals from Martin Svestka led Dubnica to a comfortable 4-0 win against Albania's KS Teuta and they advanced by the same scoreline.
Saraljic decider
FK Sloboda Tuzla, of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Finland's TPV Tampere also advanced on away goals. Adnan Sarajlic scored Sloboda's goal in a 1-0 win against NK Publikum of Slovenia after a 2-1 first-leg away defeat, while a goalless draw was enough for Tampere against CS Grevenmacher after their 1-1 draw in Luxembourg last week.
Dinamo delight
Belarus side FC Dinamo Minsk overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to knock Poland's MKS Odra Wodzislaw Slaski out 2-1 on aggregate, Vitaly Volodenkov getting the deciding goal 15 minutes from time. Ivaylo Pargov struck twice to make home advantage count for Bulgaria's PFC Marek Dupnitza, who beat Georgia's FC Dila Gori 2-0 to advance by the same scoreline, and Swiss side FC Thun successfully defended their 2-0 first-leg lead over CF Gloria Bistrita 1992 by playing out a goalless draw in Romania.
Cork strike again
Ireland's Cork City FC followed their terrific 3-1 victory against Malmö FF at home last week with a 1-0 win in Sweden, Liam Kearney scoring the only goal of the game. Lithuanian side FK Atlantas were also impressive 1-0 winners, against FC Spartak Moskva, but Donatas Navikas' strike 14 minutes from time could not prevent his side bowing out 2-1 on aggregate.
