Baup back at Saint-Etienne

Elie Baup has returned to AS Saint-Etienne for a second spell as coach, replacing Frédéric Antonetti.

Elie Baup has replaced Frédéric Antonetti as coach of AS Saint-Etienne, who were promoted to Ligue 1 last season after finishing top of the French second division.

Second stint
The 49-year-old, who was sacked by FC Girondins de Bordeaux eight months ago, returns for his second stint at Les Verts. He was previously in charge from 1994-96 when he replaced Jacques Santini.

Board changes
Baup's arrival is one of five changes in the club's coaching and managerial structure. Saint-Etienne old boys Daniel Sanchez, who will be Baup's assistant, and Oswaldo Piazza, the new managing director, have also returned to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Meanwhile, Damien Comolli, a former assistant of Arsène Wenger at Arsenal FC, has been named general manager and Vincent Truong-Cong takes over the chief executive's role.

Antonetti walked out
Antonetti, who had guided the club back to the top division after a five-year absence, walked out earlier this month, refusing to renew his contract after his assistant Christian Villanova was dismissed.
