Izzet made 342 appearances for Leicester in all, scoring 47 goals. "He's a top-class player and with backing from our board we were able to get him," said Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, who also recently secured the signature of English international forward Emile Heskey.
Eye-catching Bentley
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Norwich City FC have signed talented Arsenal FC youngster David Bentley on a
one-season loan. The 19-year-old England Under-21 international made several eye-catching appearances for the English champions last season.
Bigger squad needed
"We know we need a bigger squad for the Premiership, therefore I am pleased we can strengthen our quality up front," Norwich manager Nigel Worthington said on his club's official website. Norwich were promoted after winning the first division last season.
Albrechtsen excited
Another promoted club, West Bromwich Albion FC, have signed Denmark international defender Martin Albrechtsen for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old joins from Danish double winners FC København. "West Brom came in with an offer that was so exciting I just couldn't decline," the player said.
