Four titles
The 31-year-old has won ten international caps for France and has been part of Ligue 1 title-winning sides in each each of the last four season, first with FC Nantes Atlantique in 2000/1 and then in three successive campaigns with Lyon.
Starting place elusive
But last season he struggled to secure a starting place in Paul Le Guen's team, scoring twice in 28 league games as he was largely restricted to the role of substitute. Carrière also played a part in six of Lyon's eight UEFA Champions League fixtures before they bowed out at the quarter-final stage against eventual winners FC Porto.
European ambitions
Lens, who finished eighth in the French top flight last season, have confirmed that they will take part in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in the summer. Last year they qualified for the UEFA Cup through the same competition before being knocked out in the second round by Turkish side Gaziantepspor.
