Lokvenc bound for Bochum

Members

VfL Bochum 1848 have signed Vratislav Lokvenc from 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who in turn moved for Carsten Jancker.

Defender next
Lokvenc, 30, has agreed a three-year contract with Bochum where he will replace the outgoing Iranian international Vahid Hashemian, who is joining FC Bayern München in the summer. Fifth-placed Bochum are aiming to seal a UEFA Cup place for next season and have not finished their rebuilding programme with a new central defender high on the priority list.

Relegation battle
Kaiserslautern will miss the services of Lokvenc, who has been with them since 2000. He scored twice in Saturday's 3-2 win against VfL Wolfsburg which has given them a major lift in their battle against relegation. With three games to play, Kaiserslautern are four points above the drop zone.

Jancker returning
To fill the gap, Kaiserslautern have turned to Udinese Calcio's former German international forward Jancker. However, the three-year deal will only be valid if the club avoid demotion. The 29-year-old is eager to play in the Bundesliga. "I am desperate to return and I think that Kaiserslautern will stay up," Jancker said.

Mikic switch
Mikic will definitely be at Kaiserslautern next season. The 24-year-old Croatian midfield player has agreed a two-year deal to leave NK Dinamo Zagreb in his homeland. With Miroslav Klose also quitting Kaiserslautern in the summer, coach Kurt Jara was pleased to have some new faces. He said: "We had to have a look around and I am very happy about the reinforcements."
