The club parted company with Vulic two weeks before the end of the 2003/04 season, although they went on to claim the championship with a 2-0 victory against NK Varteks on the final day. Petar Nadoveza was in temporary charge while the search for a permanent successor lasted.
Third spell
Katalinic, 53, has left the helm of HNK Rijeka to return to his hometown club whom he has coached on two previous occasions. He said: "I am glad to be back. I believe I'm going to achieve everything that is expected of me. Now we need to prepare well for the new season."
