Hajduk slip costs Vulic

Members

HNK Hajduk Split have sacked coach Zoran Vulic and replaced him with Petar Nadoveza after losing their lead.

Lead surrendered
The move follows Hajduk's 3-1 defeat at NK Dinamo Zagreb on Saturday, which left the club level on 69 points with Dinamo in the title race with three matches to play. Hajduk have lost a five-point lead over their last three games, having drawn at NK Varteks a fortnight ago, and now trail Dinamo by virtue of the capital club's superior head-to-head record.

Title hope intact
"We need a positive reaction - we haven't conceded the title yet," Hajduk chairman Branko Grgic said. Vulic's successor, Nadoveza, takes charge of Hajduk for the fourth time, having been at the helm twice in the 1980s and latterly during season 1999/00. "It will be difficult but we can still win the title," he said.
