News round-up: FC Girondins de Bordeaux have allowed Brazilian Deivid De Souza to join Santos FC on loan.

FC Girondins de Bordeaux

Disappointing return
Deivid arrived at Bordeaux in a €4.5m transfer from Cruzeiro EC last summer, but according to the French club's website, the 24-year-old has not "fulfilled the hopes put on his shoulders". Deivid, bought to replace Pedro Pauleta, will return to Brazil for 14 months after scoring only three goals in 23 games. Bordeaux expect him to rejoin them in July 2005.

Injury setback
In Germany, relegation strugglers Hertha BSC Berlin will be without Dutch defender Dick van Burik for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old has undergone surgery to repair cartilage damage. Van Burik has made 20 appearances this term for Hertha, who are fourth bottom of the Bundesliga.

Season over
SC Freiburg midfield player Zlatan Bajramovic will also be sidelined until the new campaign. After Freiburg beat Hannover 96 4-1 on Saturday to secure their top-flight status, the Bosnian international decided to have a long overdue groin operation. Meanwhile, FC Hansa Rostock have agreed a new two-year contract with former FC Bayern München striker Antonio di Salvo. The 24-year-old has scored four goals in 19 games this season.

Nerlinger released
Another former Bayern player, Christian Nerlinger, has reached a pay-off settlement with Rangers FC and will leave the Scottish club with immediate effect. The 31-year-old has had his contract, which was due to expire next summer, terminated. Nerlinger joined Rangers from BV Borussia Dortmund in 2001.

Kezman's century
PSV Eindhoven striker Mateja Kezman scored his 100th Dutch Eredivisie goal in the 5-0 win at FC Volendam on Sunday. After missing a 29th-minute penalty, the 25-year-old achieved his century with the fourth goal of the match, running on to a Mark van Bommel pass to finish coolly. Kezman then scored his second three minutes from time.

Reluctant substitute
Also in the Netherlands, SBV Vitesse have suspended striker Mamadou Zongo for an indefinite period after the 23-year-old refused to appear as a late substitute during Sunday's 2-2 draw against NEC Nijmegen. "It was not an easy decision to ban him because he is normally a nice boy to work with, but he let down his team-mates," coach Edward Sturing explained.

Schurrer extension
Real Sociedad de Fútbol defender Gabriel Schurrer has extended his contract with the Spanish club until the end of next season. By making his 30th appearance of the campaign against Villarreal CF on Sunday, the 32-year-old triggered a clause prolonging his contract, which was due to expire on 30 June, by 12 months.

Time for surgery
Everton FC defender Gary Naysmith will have hernia repair surgery on Tuesday to cure a persistent groin problem. The Scottish international was due to undergo the operation at the season's end but having now suffered a separate ankle problem the procedure has been brought forward.
