Forssell lengthens Birmingham loan

'Consistency and stability'
The 23-year-old Finnish international has excelled at St Andrews following his arrival last summer. "I am proud to be a Chelsea player but I feel that another year working with Birmingham manager Steve Bruce can only aid my development even further," Forssell told Chelsea's official website. "I have progressed as a footballer and staying in the Midlands for a further year can only be good for my consistency and stability."

Bruce, who had reportedly been interested in signing Forssell, rated at €7m, on a permanent basis, said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chelsea Football Club for the professionalism they have shown in dealing with this matter." Forssell scored seven goals in 12 games on loan at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach last season.
