Bayern swoop for Hashemian

Members

FC Bayern München have confirmed the €2m transfer of Iran forward Vahid Hashemian from VfL Bochum 1848.

Added pressure
The 27-year-old will move to the Olymiastadion in the summer on a three-year deal, with Bayern convinced that he is the right player to increase the competition for places up front alongside Roy Makaay.

Aerial threat
"Vahid is extremely strong in the air and none of our strikers, including Roy Makaay, have that quality. He is still hungry for titles," manager Uli Hoeness said.

Prolific scorer
The Iranian international has scored 14 goals this season and has been an important factor in Bochum's quest to qualify for the UEFA Cup. Hashemian is the second Iranian forward to join Bayern. Compatriot Ali Daei had a 12-month spell with the Bundesliga club in 1998.
