Relegation worry
The 49-year-old has been unable to stop the club sliding into trouble. Valladolid have won just one of their last seven matches and are precariously perched just above the relegation zone. With four games left to play in the 20-team Primera División, Valladolid have 37 points, the same as RCD Espanyol in 18th place.
Caretaker role
Vázquez's assistant, Antonio Sánchez Santos, has been put in temporary charge until the end of the season. His first match will be the trip to relegated Real Murcia CF on Sunday. Vázquez only joined Valladolid last summer, having previously worked at Rayo Vallecano, UD Las Palmas, Real Betis Balompié and RCD Mallorca.
