Club Brugge KV consigned Belgian First Division leaders RSC Anderlecht to a rare defeat.

Club Brugge KV prevailed in the top-of-the-table encounter in the Belgian first division on Sunday, defeating runaway leaders RSC Anderlecht 1-0.

Lange goal
Forward Rune Lange struck in the third minute, heading in a corner past Anderlecht reserve goalkeeper Tristan Peer, and Brugge managed to hold firm for the remainder of the game, forcefully repelling the attacks launched their way. The win meant that Trond Sollied’s team reduced the gap at the top of the standings to 13 points.

Easy win
R. Standard de Liège, in third, also impressed as they brushed aside R. Antwerp FC 3-0. Emile Mpenza scored either side of half-time and Sambegou Bangoura was also on target in the 58th minute.

Solitary strike
Fourth-placed R. Excelsior Mouscron saw off mid-table KAA Gent 2-1 courtesy of second-half goals from Mbo Mpenza and Koen De Vleeschauwer, before Hamad Ndikumana halved the deficit in the 72nd minute. KVC Westerlo, in fifth, edged out K. Heusden-Zolder 1-0 on their travels on Friday after Jeffrey Ntuka-Pule's solitary 80th-minute strike.

Brazilian duo
KRC Genk, however, went down 2-1 to KSC Lokeren, whose Brazilian pair of Taílson and Renatinho both put their names on the scoresheet. A 25th-minute Ndri Romaric goal secured KSK Beveren a 1-0 victory against R. Charleroi SC and Wamberto was on target as RAEC Mons beat RAA Louviéroise 1-0. The K. Lierse SK-Cercle Bruges KSV and KFC Germinal Beerschot-K. Sint-Truidense VV matches finished scoreless.
