Strasbourg survival hopes hit

Members

An ankle fracture has sidelined RC Strasbourg forward Mamadou Niang for the next six to eight weeks.

Training injury
The Senegalese international suffered the injury during a warm-up session in training ten days ago but the extent of the problem was only diagnosed yesterday after an MRI scan. Niang's ankle will be in plaster for the next four weeks.

'Angry with myself'
With nine goals in 21 games this season, the 24-year-old has been a key performer for the struggling Alsatian side. "I'm angry with myself," he said. "I was careless in training and it has had a serious effect on my career."

Relegation threat
Strasbourg have already lost the services of forward Danijel Ljuboja, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain FC in January. They are currently 14th in Ligue 1, but have won just once in their last ten league games and sit only five points away from the relagation zone.
