Anderlecht stride ahead

Members

RSC Anderlecht moved 14 points clear at the top of the Belgian first division after a 3-1 win.

RSC Anderlecht further strengthened their position at the top of the Belgian first division with a 3-1 win at K. Sint-Truidense VV 3-1.

Another opener
Korean international Ki-Hyeon Seol opened the scoring - as he did against KAA Gent last weekend - for the league leaders in the 29th minute. Vincent Kompany doubled the advantage and Hannu Tihinen collected the third goal after Jochen Janssen had pulled one back for the home team.

Lost ground
Second-placed R. Standard de Liège, who are 14 points adrift, could only manage a 1-1 draw against RAEC Mons on Saturday. Brazilian striker Wamberto’s late penalty ensured the spoils were shared after Gonzague Vandooren had given the hosts the lead. KRC Genk, in third, also drew 1-1 at home against KFC Germinal Beerschot.

Stirring comeback
Cercle Brugge KSV overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat R. Charleroi SC 3-2. Gílson gave the away side the lead in the third minute and Thibaut Detal doubled it immediately after the break. The hosts, however, came back into the match on the hour mark through Andreas Vlachos and equalised through Nordin Jbari before Kenneth Notte capped a remarkable turnaround.

Johnson leveller
On-loan Manchester United FC striker Eddie Johnson’s second-half leveller for R. Antwerp FC was enough to earn a 1-1 draw against K. Heusden-Zolder, for whom Igor De Camargo was on target. Josselyn Joss Péhé put KSK Beveren ahead against KSC Lokeren OV but Taílson equalised early in the second half to secure a point while K. Lierse SK and R. Excelsior Mouscron played out a 2-2 draw. On Friday, goals from Nigerian striker Tosin Dosunmu and Chris Janssens gave KAA Gent a 2-0 win against KVC Westerlo while the match between RAA Louviéroise and Club Brugge KV on Friday was postponed due to snow.
