HNK Hajduk Split midfield player Dean Racunica may be forced to retire because of a heart condition.
Star performer
The 35-year-old will not be travelling to the Croatian league leaders' winter training camp in Turkey as the club's medical staff need to conduct further tests to assess his fitness. Racunica has been one of the stars of Hajduk's season up to now.
Further tests
"We need to conduct extra tests and then we should know whether he can continue with his career," said the club's cardiologist Dr Ivo Vukotic. "We are faced with a serious cardiovascular problem but we are inexperienced in such cases, so he needs further examinations."
Filekovic arrives
Meanwhile, defender Suad Filekovic has joined Hajduk from Slovenian side NK Maribor. The 25-year-old left-back has signed a two-and-a-half year contract. "Signing for Hajduk gives me a big opportunity to improve," said the Slovenian international.
